The Silverton Foundation, a local non-profit group that supports family literacy, is honoring the Lucy Read Pre-Kindergarten Demonstration School’s retiring Principal, Peggy Cerna, with the establishment of a Lucy Read Principal’s Discretionary Fund.

2008 TAKS Results
Austin School Trustees have received a summary presentation about the District’s scores on the 2008 Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills tests. Assistant Superintendent Ann Smisko and Executive Director of Accountability Maria Whitsett said that since the TAKS program began in 2003, “successive cohorts of AISD students have experienced improved passing rates.” Highlights of the 2008 scores include:

AISD Transfer Request Deadline Is August 11 for 2008-09 School Year

Requests for student transfers in the Austin School District must be submitted to the Office of Student Services, 1111 West Sixth Street, by 4:45 p.m., on Monday, August 11, 2008, to be considered for the Fall Semester of the 2008-2009 school year.
