The Austin Independent School District has completed its first year of AISD REACH. This initiative is a new venture within the district aimed at supporting and rewarding success in the classroom.

AISD REACH is currently being piloted at 11 AISD schools for the 2008-2009 school year. The amount of schools in the pilot will double in 2009-2010 and 2010-2011.

Through this four-year pilot program, AISD will explore and evaluate how new and enhanced forms of compensation and organizational support can have a positive impact on:

Improving student learning at all schools and for all students, and eliminating the achievement gap;

Recruiting well-qualified teachers and principals to all AISD schools;

Increasing retention rates among AISD teachers and principals;

Strengthening the knowledge and skills of staff;

And recognizing exemplary practice and results.
